In 2022, Vietnam's aquatic products industry suffered  many negative impacts from the world market. However, through the efforts of adjusting the structure and opening up the market, the export of aquatic products still made a major breakthrough, contributing to the growth of agriculture and export volume.

In 2022, the output value of aquatic products increased by 3% year on year, and the total output reached 9.06 million tons, up 3.1% year on year. Among them, the fishing yield reached 3.86 million tons, down 1.8% year on year; The aquaculture output reached 5.19 million tons, up 7% year on year. All objectives exceed the level of Vietnam's aquaculture development strategy by 2030 and 2045. In 2022, the export value of aquatic products reached a record 11 billion US dollars for the first time, up 23.8% year-on-year and 22.2% higher than the plan. Among them, the export value of brackish water shrimp reached 4.1-4.2 billion US dollars (a year-on-year increase of about 13%); The export value of fish inspection reached 2.35 billion US dollars (a year-on-year increase of about 70%). It is the substantial growth in the export value of these two important products that has brought the export value to a new high.
