Fish maw is a dried product of fish swim bladder. Since ancient times, it has been praised as a nourishing treasure, on par with shark fin, bird's nest, and other delicacies, and is known as the "Eight Treasures of Seafood". Fish maw has a history of nearly two thousand years of consumption and medicinal use in China. Fish maw is a part of traditional Chinese nourishing culture, demonstrating the concept of "medicine and food sharing the same origin", which is also a unique and important component of Chinese culinary culture.
The fish maw imported from Nansha Port mainly comes from countries such as Vietnam, Suriname, Myanmar, and Thailand. The import volume in the first three quarters of 2024 is about 933 tons, with a value of about 11.76 million US dollars. In 2024, the General Administration of Customs has made adjustments and optimizations to the entry requirements for dried fish maw and other imports, which is conducive to more high-quality foreign aquatic products entering the domestic market and meeting the diversified needs of Chinese consumers.
