In August 2024, Vietnam's seafood exports showed a strong recovery momentum, with the overall export value jumping to nearly 953 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 20%. According to the Vietnam Seafood Exporters and Producers Association (VASEP), the total export value of seafood in the first eight months of 2024 has approached 6.3 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of nearly 9%, demonstrating the competitiveness of Vietnamese seafood in the global market.

As of the end of August 2024, Vietnamese shrimp products have become a highlight of exports, with an export value of nearly 2.4 billion US dollars. Among them, the export value of white shrimp is about 1.75 billion US dollars (an increase of 8%), while the export value of black tiger shrimp has decreased by 7%, with a total value of nearly 290 million US dollars. In August, Vietnam's shrimp exports increased by 30%, driving the shrimp export value to nearly 2.4 billion US dollars in the first eight months of 2024, a year-on-year increase of 9%. Although the export of black tiger shrimp has declined, the export of South American white shrimp and lobster has shown strong performance, especially in the first eight months of 2024 when the export volume of lobster increased by 140% year-on-year, becoming a new engine of growth. Against the backdrop of an expected decrease in global shrimp production, Vietnam's shrimp export prospects are more optimistic.
