If it weren't for a field investigation, few people would know that the only tropical fish member enterprise of the World Ornamental Fish Organization (OFI) in mainland China, the largest tropical ornamental fish breeding base in the country, and the world's top producer and seller of four major species including ornamental Caridina shrimp, are actually located in Xinsha Village, Dagang Town, Nansha District, Guangzhou.
Xinsha Village is located on a small "fish" shaped island in the eastern part of Dagang Town, Nansha District. The village covers an area of approximately 6.5 square kilometers and is the largest administrative village in Dagang Town. According to the existing "Panyu County Hall Monument" of the Qing Dynasty, at least five years before the reign of Emperor Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1879), hundreds of villagers gathered in Xinsha Village to grow sugar cane, bananas, fange and breed the "the four famous domestic fishes" for a living. After the reform and opening up, Xinsha Village's unique water resources and climate environment gradually gained the favor of investors.
According to executives from Guangzhou Qingqing Natural Agriculture currently operates a total of 210 varieties of seven major categories of tropical ornamental fish, among which 15 varieties of ornamental Caridina shrimp and cichlid have the highest production and sales volume in the world. We have independently developed four globally unique varieties: Sapphire Rice Shrimp, Panda Glass Shrimp, Chocolate Shrimp, and Golden Red Eyebrow. It has successfully mass-produced five varieties globally: Sai Blue Six Rooms, Cobalt Blue Pineapple, Sweeney Guan Dao, Green Robe Red Sword Tail, and Golden Damo. The enterprise mainly focuses on cultivating fish species and wholesale in the market, with products sold worldwide and an annual output value of over 100 million yuan. It has a place in the world's ornamental fish industry and has become a global leading brand in the ornamental fish industry. It is also currently the only member of the World Ornamental Fish Organization (OFI) Tropical Fish Committee in mainland China.
The geographical location and climate conditions of Xinsha Village are very suitable for the breeding of tropical fish fry. We have been on Gaoxin Sand Island for 15 years, and the company has been able to operate steadily and develop rapidly thanks to the planning guidance and strong support of Guangzhou and Nansha District. Without planning guidance, scattered land parcels may not meet the overall land demand of the company. "The company's executives explained that the total development space of 333 acres can now be planned, thanks to the emphasis on planning guidance during the" Hundred Million Million Project "to cultivate typical villages. The first phase of the enterprise, covering 85 acres, was completed and put into operation in 2020, making the company have 6500 fish tanks and 2300 fish ponds, making it the largest subtropical ornamental fish base in China. The second phase covers an area of 57 acres and is expected to be completed by the end of this year. The 191 acres of land planned in the third phase is closely integrated with the "Colorful High tech Sand" Xinxiang Village Demonstration Belt currently planned in Nansha District. It is expected to start construction next year and ultimately create the largest ornamental fish breeding and leisure tourism complex in China, including an ornamental fish leisure tourism science popularization base. The headquarters of the enterprise is located in Xinsha Village, with over 130 employees and a large number of villagers employed.
It is reported that both Guangzhou City and Nansha District attach great importance to the ornamental fish industry in Xinsha Village. The "Colorful High tech Sand" Xinxiang Village Demonstration Belt is one of the five demonstration belts in Nansha District, including two villages on the High tech Sand Island. The champion of the ornamental fish industry is a major industrial highlight in the demonstration belt. The staff of Dagang Town Economic Office stated that Xinsha Village's demonstration of a new rural area centered around ornamental fish is not only a typical village in the "Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Project", but also a new business card for industrial development in Nansha and even the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area.
