Overall situation of trade

In September 2024, China's aquatic product imports and exports amounted to 3215.4 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 3.7%. Among them, exports amounted to 1646.1 million US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 13%; imports amounted to 15,693 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 8.4%; net exports for the month were 76.8 million US dollars.

From January to September 2024, China's cumulative imports and exports of aquatic products amounted to 27482.8 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 7.1%. Among them, cumulative exports amounted to 14267.1 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 2.5%; cumulative imports amounted to 13215.7 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 11.6%; cumulative net exports amounted to 1051.4 million US dollars.

In September 2024, the total import and export volume of aquatic products in China was 748,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 2.3%. Among them, exports were 351,000 tons, up 11.7% year-on-year; imports were 398,000 tons, down 12.1% year-on-year.

From January to September 2024, China's total import and export volume of aquatic products was 6.39 million tons, up 0.7% year-on-year. Among them, cumulative exports were 2.93 million tons, up 10.6% year-on-year; cumulative imports were 3.46 million tons, down 6.4% year-on-year.

Import structure of aquatic products

In September 2024, the top three products in terms of import value of aquatic products in China were crustaceans, frozen fish and mollusks, with imports of US$784.8 million, US$403.4 million and US$142.4 million, respectively, accounting for 50.0%, 25.7% and 9.1% of the total import value of aquatic products, respectively, with year-on-year growth rates of -9.0%, -9.19% and -4.4%6.

From January to September 2024, the top three products in terms of import value of aquatic products in China were crustaceans, frozen fish and molluscs, with imports of US$6,521.1 million, US$3,189.6 million and US$1,320.8 million, respectively, accounting for 49.3%, 24.1% and 10.0% of the total import value of aquatic products, with year-on-year growth rates of -9.9%, -8.6% and -11.79%, respectively.

In September 2024, the top three products in terms of import quantity of aquatic products in China were frozen fish, crustaceans and molluscs, with imports of 200,000 tons, 93,000 tons and 37,000 tons, respectively, accounting for 50.2%, 23.3% and 9.4% of the total import value of aquatic products, with year-on-year growth rates of -14.7%, -16.7% and 1.4%, respectively.

From January to September 2024, the top three aquatic products imported by China were frozen fish, crustaceans and mollusks, with imports of 1.645 million tons, 873,000 tons and 347,000 tons respectively, accounting for 47.5%, 25.2% and 10.0% of the total aquatic product trade imports, respectively, with year-on-year growth rates of -1.7%, -8.1% and -20.6% respectively.
