On November 10, 2024, the Oman Daily reported that Masoud Azri, Director of the Agriculture and Fisheries Marketing Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources of Oman, stated that several Omani companies have started exporting fish products to China, which was achieved after the two countries signed the relevant agreement on the export of Omani wild aquatic products to China. At present, 23 enterprises have obtained the fish product quality certification jointly issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and relevant departments in China.

Masoud stated that the export of Oman's aquatic products to China is an important step towards implementing the "2040 Vision" of Oman and deepening the development of the fishing industry. It will further expand the export areas of high-quality aquatic products in Oman and help deepen the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

In 2023, Oman's fish production reached 793,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 6%, valued at 1.38 billion US dollars. At that time, Oman exported 324,000 tons of fish worth 490 million US dollars to about 84 countries and regions.
