The Northeastern United States is a gathering place for fishing ports from Maine to Delaware. Northeastern seafood has a higher value due to its excellent quality, safe food assurance, innovative packaging and multifunctional products. The Northeastern United States has rich seafood resources. In addition to American lobsters and Atlantic scallops, it also produces oysters, Jonah crabs and some other fishery products. American lobsters and Atlantic scallops can be supplied all year round. American lobsters need at least 6-7 years of growth cycle to grow to about 1 pound; and scallops in the Northeastern United States have gone from overfishing in the past to becoming the world's largest wild scallop producing area; American oysters, also known as Northeastern oysters, can withstand exposure and cold weather, and have a long shelf life. The main growth area of American Jonah crabs is in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
