Important Export
According to data released by the Vietnam Association of Aquatic Products Exporters and Producers (VASEP), in September 2024, Vietnam's aquatic product exports reached US$866 million, a year-on-year increase of 6.4%; the total export volume in the third quarter was US$2.765 billion, a year-on-year increase of 12.8%; The cumulative export volume in the first nine months of this year reached US$7.16 billion, a year-on-year increase of 8.5%.
VASEP said that after years of disruption caused by the COVID-19 epidemic, global conflicts and inflation, the international market has gradually stabilized and Vietnam's aquaculture industry has returned to the growth track in the second half of this year.
In September, exports of all major aquatic products increased significantly. Exports of pangasius increased by 13.5%, shrimp by 17.5%, crabs by 56%, and exports of shelled molluscs increased by particularly astonishingly, reaching 95%.
Of all exports, shrimp remains the largest source of revenue. In the first nine months of 2024, shrimp exports were worth approximately US$2.8 billion, a year-on-year increase of 10.5%. Although frozen shrimp exports face competitive pressure from Ecuador and India, they still maintain a strong position in the global market. Exports of processed white shrimp increased by nearly 10%, and exports of frozen white shrimp increased by 4.5%.
