Ili Prefecture has three major water systems, mainly glacier meltwater, with sweet and clear water sources and water temperatures below 20°C all year round, which is suitable for large-scale ecological salmon farming.

Although Atlantic salmon and rainbow trout are closely related, the difference between the two is quite significant because rainbow trout is a freshwater fish, while Atlantic salmon is a saltwater fish.
