According to statistics from the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), in August 2024, seafood export activities continued to recover, with a growth rate of 20% and foreign exchange earnings of nearly US$953 million. In the first eight months of this year, the export value of seafood reached nearly US$6.3 billion, an increase of nearly 9% over the same period last year.
In August 2024, the export of major aquatic products achieved 2-3 digit growth. Among them, shrimp exports increased by 30%, Basa catfish increased by 18%, tuna increased by 13%, and other aquatic products increased by 12%. With the positive growth momentum in recent months, it is expected that the export of aquatic products will accelerate in the last few months of this year, reaching the target of a total export value of 9.5 billion US dollars for the whole year.
