According to data from the Chilean Customs Administration, Chile's salmon exports fell for the second consecutive quarter. In the third quarter of this year, exports fell by 3.1% year-on-year, or 5.6 tons, mainly due to a 9% decrease in Atlantic salmon exports (about 13,000 tons), especially a decrease of 10,000 tons in frozen whole salmon.

Loreto Seguel, executive director of the Chilean Salmon Committee, warned that the salmon market is facing challenges. He also pointed out that the future development of the industry should be planned from a broader perspective, especially in key discussions such as aquaculture laws to balance industry growth and sustainability needs. As the world's second largest salmon exporter, Chile regards salmon as the "protein of the future", and its export strategic position cannot be ignored.
