After years of anticipation, the time for domestically produced saltwater salmon to "leap" onto people's dining tables is finally counting down by the heavens.

In late October and early November, the 2024 Ocean Cooperation and Development Forum and the 27th China International Fisheries Expo and China International Aquaculture Exhibition were held consecutively. At these two heavyweight industry forums and exhibitions, Shandong Wanzefeng Marine Development Group  made a high-profile appearance with salmon.

The company's president Liu Haibin admitted that this move is to promote the large-scale release and listing of salmon by the end of this year. In December, the salmon in the 'Deep Blue No. 2' net cage will be released on a large scale and brought to the market, with an expected weight of 4-6 kilograms per fish. This is the first time that our commercialized salmon has been promoted and sold on a large scale to end consumers.

Liu Haibin said that in the past, if countrymen wanted to eat salmon from Shanghai, they could only choose imported salmon from Norway and other places, which would take a week at the earliest. The salmon cultured in the "Deep Blue No.2" net cage located in the deep sea of China can enter people's dining tables about 3 days after being released. Compared with imported fresh salmon that lacks elasticity, the meat will be fresher, more tender, and more elastic, making it more competitive in the market. Compared to freshwater farmed salmon, it will taste more delicious and have better conditions for raw consumption.

In 2022, Shandong Caijin Rural Revitalization and Wanzefeng jointly established Shandong Caijin Wanzefeng Marine Technology. With the empowerment and support of Shandong Caijin Group, Caijin Wanzefeng launched the Caijin "Offshore Granary No.1" project with a total investment of about 877 million yuan, constructing 6 offshore deepwater aquaculture net cages with an annual production capacity of 6000 tons of salmon and a direct output value of 600 million yuan. After completion, it will become the largest submersible deep-sea salmon aquaculture net cage cluster in China. At present, the first net cage has been put into use, with over 300,000 salmon being raised; The second net cage was also launched in August this year and officially towed out to sea on November 5th.
