Recently, Shanghai Hecheng Food Co., Ltd. was invited to attend the 2024 Haile (China Region) Agent Annual Conference. At the meeting, Mr. Li Zhipeng, the General Manager, delivered a speech, sharing the latest developments in China's high-end seafood market and the company's development strategy.

Mr. Li Zhipeng emphasized the growth potential of the salmon market in China. In 2023, the import volume of frozen salmon in China is about 80123.93 tons, while the import volume from January to October 2024 has reached about 76500 tons, a year-on-year increase of 13.2%. It is expected that the annual import volume will reach 90000 tons. In addition, the import volume of frozen salmon increased by 38.1% year-on-year in October.

Despite the large total consumption of seafood in China, there is still a significant gap in per capita consumption compared to regions such as Europe, America, Japan, and South Korea. For example, the per capita consumption of Atlantic salmon in China is only 0.08 kilograms, far lower than South Korea's 0.73 kilograms and Hong Kong's 2.17 kilograms, demonstrating the enormous growth potential of the Chinese market.

Salmon, cod, king crab, lobster, abalone, sea cucumber, and other seafood have always been the representatives of mid to high end seafood in the minds of Chinese consumers, with high recognition and stable consumer groups in the market. Norwegian salmon has become the first choice for consumers due to its high quality and nutritional value.

As the first BAP four-star certified salmon processing enterprise in China, Hecheng Food has constantly pursued high standards in the industry. It has not only become an important supplier of Sam, Metro AG and other large supermarkets, but also has steadily increased its market share.

On December 14, 2023, Hecheng Food reached a strategic cooperation agreement with Norway's NORCOD Group to promote the entry of new high-end edible fish into the Chinese market.

The imported cod uses 100% sustainable certified, genetically modified, and antibiotic free food sources, filling the gap in the market for raw grade cod. Cod grows naturally in Norwegian fjords, free of parasites, and is farmed in seawater. It can be sustainably supplied throughout the year and can be transported from source to table in as little as 3 days.

Arctic Norwegian fresh cod has become a new favorite in the food industry, not only becoming the first choice for mothers to choose healthy complementary foods for their babies, but also winning the favor of Michelin starred chefs. Whether it's the jelly pot in Cantonese cuisine, the boiled cod in Sichuan cuisine, the French style pan fried cod, or the Nordic style grilled cod, there is always a dish that can meet your expectations for food.

Relying on the geographical advantages of Hengsha Fishing Port on Changxing Island in Shanghai, Hecheng Food insists on using polar countries around the world as the origin of sea crabs, bringing high-quality sea crab products to China, and is committed to becoming China's first global sea crab supplier, creating a world-class sea crab product processing center.

Through the technique of freezing and locking freshness, not only does it significantly extend the shelf life of sea crabs, but it also maintains their original nutritional content and fresh taste; At the same time, we closely monitor global food trends and develop multiple sea crab seasoning products to fully meet the needs of different people and scenarios for high-quality sea crab products.

The demand for high-end seafood ingredients in the Chinese market is strong and growing rapidly. Boxed foods will focus on quality, personality, and green, accurately target consumer groups, and deeply cultivate consumption scenarios to promote high-quality and sustainable development of the industry.
