On January 13, 2024, the 7th "Shenyang Cup" China Domestic Koi Competition was grandly held in Jiangmen, Guangdong.
A jury composed of 44 koi experts from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, China and domestic professionals finally decided on the overall championship and other awards after conducting a strict and fierce review.

Guangzhou now accounts for 70% of the country's ornamental fish trading volume, driving the development of the province's and even the country's ornamental fish industry, as well as the development of the ornamental aquarium equipment manufacturing industry, and continuing to inject new impetus into the high-quality development of the entire industry chain.

According to the Beijing Business Daily, citing news from Japan's Kyodo News Agency, China has de facto stopped importing ornamental koi from Japan starting in November 2023.

The project is invested and constructed by Miao's Goldfish Cooperative, with a total investment of 110 million yuan. Construction  started in April 2022. It mainly builds ornamental fish breeding greenhouses, high-standard full-sunlight glass greenhouses, outdoor breeding ponds and park infrastructure. The breeding and operation of Lanshou , Thai lion and other ornamental fish species. After the project is fully completed, it will be able to breed 720,000 finished fish annually, achieving sales revenue of 124 million yuan and profit of 68 million yuan.

From October 14th to 15th, Jinan City was awarded the title of "China's Famous Koi City" at the 3rd China Famous Koi Competition and Mashan Cup Koi Masters held in Mashan Town, Changqing District. The villagers of Zhuang Village are excited - the competition site is in Shuangquanzhuang Village and will become a permanent competition site. A pastoral complex project based on the koi industry is also being planned.
